Transparent Fees for Motoring Offences Solicitors Liverpool

We offer competitive fixed fees for many summary motoring matters to give you certainty and peace of mind.

Fixed Fee Packages (Basic Offences):

  • Guilty Plea Representation: £600 + VAT. Includes advice on evidence, taking instructions, and representation at court for mitigation and exceptional hardship arguments.
  • Trial Representation: £900 + VAT. Includes representation at a trial, finding of fact hearing, or special reasons hearing.

Note: These fees apply to local courts. Travel to courts outside the area incurs an additional cost of £165 + VAT per hour plus mileage (45p per mile). Expert reports (e.g., medical or forensic) are additional third-party costs.

For more serious motoring offences (e.g., dangerous driving or theft of a motor vehicle), we may be able to apply for Legal Aid or work on our full hourly rate of £165 + VAT per hour.

What Happens Next? Understanding the Process

An initial plea and mitigation are normally entered by post or online. A single magistrate deals with the case without a formal hearing. If you plead guilty, you will be notified of the sentence by post.

For more serious matters (e.g., drink driving) or if you plead not guilty, you will be required to attend court. If you plead not guilty, a trial date will be fixed where we will present your defence.

If a guilty plea is likely to result in disqualification, the matter will be listed for a specific sentencing hearing where expert representation is vital to argue for reduced penalties or “exceptional hardship.”

Motoring Offences Solicitors FAQs

While you can represent yourself, instructing expert motoring offences solicitors is highly recommended if you are facing a driving ban (disqualification) or if you have grounds to argue “exceptional hardship” to retain your licence.

This is a method used for minor motoring offences where a single magistrate decides the case based on written evidence without a court hearing. You can enter your plea online or by post.

For basic offences, we offer a fixed fee of £600 + VAT for a guilty plea and mitigation, and £900 + VAT for representation at a trial. More serious cases may be charged at an hourly rate or funded via Legal Aid if eligible.

If you are privately funded and successfully defend your case, we can apply for a “Defendant’s Costs Order.” However, the amount recovered is capped at Legal Aid rates, meaning there will likely be a shortfall between what you paid and what you recover.
